The being that you want to kill is a living being like your own self, the one whom you wish to hurt or cause pain, is a living being like your own self. The one you want to rule over, make submissive or obedient to you, is a living being like your own self. The wise who realising this truth, live their life, neither kill nor instigate others to kill. He who commits violence has to bear its consequences. Hence, never think of hurting or causing injury to others.

There is no Dharma like kindness, no charity better than feeding the hungry, no fame better than to be known truthful, and no ornament better than good character.

Be ever ready to help those who are helpless, or are in need of help, protection or support.

One should promptly, willingly and carefully nurse and treat those who are ailing, so that they may be cured and recover health.

He who tries to make others happy, himself gets happiness.

It is the selfless service of others that enables the soul to attain perfection and become a Tirthankara.

Be friendly to all living beings. Do not insult, rebuke or abuse anybody.

Anger kills love, conceit destroys respectfulness, deceit is the enemy of friendship and greed brings about the ruin of every other virtue.
