The Mind is Filled with the Divine Music of the Spheres

The Mind is Filled with the Divine Music of the Spheres

Sant Mat Quote of the Day:

Guru Amar Das

The Lord placed the soul in the body's cave,
And the breath held the Music of Life.
He made each body with nine gates, (1)
With the Tenth Gate (2); remaining well hid.
And the Tenth Door was opened to him
Who truly loved the Guru's wisdom.
And there lives the Lord in His myriad forms,
as well as the nine treasures of the Name.
His limit cannot be found.

Says Nanak, the Lord placed the soul in the
body's cave and the breath held the Music of Life.

Listen to this Song of Bliss, you blessed ones,
And all your heart's longings shall be fulfilled.
You will reach the Transcendent Lord, and
your sorrows will depart.
All afflictions and sorrows are destroyed
at the Sound of the True Word,
And my friends, the saints were in ecstasy when
the perfect Guru revealed it.
Those who speak and those who listen are pure,
And they see the All-pervading Lord everywhere.
Nanak prays: Attaching to the feet of the Guru,
The mind is filled with the divine Music of the Spheres.

-- Guru Amar Das, from Anand Sahib, Peace Lagoon translation

Notes:

(1) "nine gates": The nine visible orifices of the body.

(2) "The Tenth Gate": The Tenth, or Hidden, Gate of the body: The Third Eye, in essence, is the Portal to inner realms. The Upanishads describe a human being as a city with ten gates. Nine gates (eyes, nostrils, ears, mouth, urethra, anus) lead to the outside world. The Tenth Gate, the Third Eye, opens onto inner worlds: the whole spectrum of levels of consciousness.

Surrey, BC, Edmonton and Toronto -- Letter from Dr. Jagessar Das of the Kabir Association

Dear Friends, devotees, supporters and families,

Greetings from the Guru Kabir Association of Canada.

This is an email invitation for the programs, discourses (pravachans), and bhajans and to receive his blessings. Please note the dates and times.

Kabir (1398-1518) was one of the foremost mystical saints of India who lived a simple life of a weaver. He had no formal education, and mentally composed hundreds of devotional bhajans and thousands of sakhis or couplets attesting to spiritual life, the immediacy of God in all our hearts, and the simple way of Sahaj Yoga to realize Him. He taught universal brotherhood, equality of all people irrespective of castes, love for all, and to realize God in this life. His teachings can be said to be one of an inner path to inner awakening to Reality. He taught avoidance of religious hypocrisy, and the practice of Truth an all activities. He is hailed as the father of Hindi poetry, and the originator of Nirgun bhakti (worship of formless God, who is beyond all attributes).

Shri Hazur Ardh Nam Saheb is a monk. He was the disciple of the late Hazur Udit Nam Saheb. He studied at the Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, and obtained his Shastri and Sanskrit philosophy degrees. Though he is headquartered at Lahartara, Varanasi, he travels widely in India to deliver the teachings of Kabir Saheb. There are a few millions of Kabir devotees that have allegiance to him.

He is coming to Canada for the first time, and will be the guest of the Kabir Association of Canada, based in Surrey. Once he leaves Surrey on August 11th, he will go to Edmonton and Toronto, then returning to UK and to India.

Please pass this on to your contacts.

Regards and thanks,

Dr. J. Das
