Mystic Poem of Kabir

 What is that flute whose music thrills me with joy?

The flame burns without a lamp;

The lotus blossoms without a root;

Flowers bloom in clusters;

The moon-bird is devoted to the moon;

With all its heart the rain-bird longs for the shower of rain;

But upon whose love does the Lover concentrate His entire life?

- Mystic poem of Kabir from, Songs of Kabir, culled by Rabindranath Tagore

Finding God Within

Finding God Within

"A prince becomes anxious searching for his necklace, forgetting the reality that it's already hanging around his neck. He says he's lost his necklace, but when a wise person points out to him that the necklace he is looking for is already around his neck, then the suffering of his delusion comes to an end.

"Likewise, human beings forgetting that God is within themselves, search in vain for the Divine in the outer world. When the wise teacher of higher knowledge makes them acquainted with their lack of true perception, informing them that God is within, then they go within themselves [in meditation] and find relief from the suffering of useless wanderings."

-- Maharshi Mehi Paramhans, Shri Gita-Yoga-Prakash (Essence of of the Bhagavad Gita, Commentary on the Spirituality of the Gita by a Sant Mat Master)
