Swami Santsevi Ji Maharaj, the Great Scholar Sant, on the Occasion of His Jayanti — Birthday Commemoration

Swami Santsevi Ji Maharaj, the Great Scholar Sant, on the Occasion of His Jayanti — Birthday Commemoration

We Remember Swami Santsevi Ji Maharaj (12–20–1920 — 6–4–2007)

The Goal of Sant Mat Spirituality and Meditation: Our Path Back to the Source — The Inward Journey Back to God

“Sant Mat (the path and teachings as taught and practiced by Saints [Sant Satgurus]) delineates the path of union of soul with God. The teachings of the saints explain the re-uniting as follows:

“The individual soul has descended from the higher worlds [the Realm of the Divine] to this city of illusion, bodily existence. It has descended from the Soundless State to the essence of Sound, from that Sound to Light, and finally from the realm of Light to the realm of Darkness. The qualities (dharmas, natural tendencies) of the sense organs draw us downward and away from our true nature.

“The nature of the soul (atman) draws us upwards and inwards and establishes us in our own true nature. Returning to our origins involves turning inward: withdrawal of consciousness from the senses and the sense objects in order to go upward from the darkness to the realms of Light and Sound. [We experience this phenomenon of withdrawal as we pass from waking consciousness to deep sleep.] Another way to express this is to go inward from the external sense organs to the depth of the inner self. (Both of these expressions are the metaphors that signify the same movement). The natural tendencies of the soul (atman) are to move from outward to inward. The current of consciousness which is dispersed in the nine gates of the body and the senses, must be collected at the tenth gate.

“The tenth gate is the gathering point of consciousness. Therein lies the path for our return. The tenth gate is also known as the sixth chakra, the third eye, bindu, the center located between the two eyebrows. This is the gateway through which we leave the gates of the sense organs and enter in the divine realms and finally become established in the soul. We travel back from the Realm of Darkness to the Realm of Light, from the Light to the Divine Sound, and from the Realm of Sound to the Soundless State. This is called turning back to the Source.

“This is what dharma or religion really intends to teach us. This is the essence of dharma.” (Swami Santsevi Ji Maharaj, “Harmony Of All Religions”).

Know Yourself and Know God: “Practice ‘Drishti Yoga’ (Yoga of Inner Light) and ‘Nadaanusandhana’ (Yoga of Inner Sound, Surat Shabd Yoga). This will remove the layers of Darkness, Light and Sound (that conceal your Soul from the Supreme Sovereign Soul, i.e. God). You will, thus, get to know ‘Who You Are’. And, when you know yourself, you will also know God.” (Swami Santsevi Ji Maharaj)

Maharshi Mehi — The Bridge Between Hindu Scriptures and Sant Mat, by Pravesh K. Singh

“Sant Tulsi Sahab of Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, India undoubtedly occupies the most pre-eminent position in the lineage of Sant mat and can be said to be the First Saint in the glorious tradition of Modern Age Sant mat. Mr. James Bean, who has made an intensive study of Sant Mat and runs several groups on Santmat very rightly depicts Sant Tulsi Sahab as the “Adi Guru of many if not most all contemporary Santmat guru-lineages, the grandfather or founding-father of modern-day Santmat” and as a “connecting link between the classic Sants of India including earlier Masters in the Kabir lineage, and contemporary Santmat”, and advocates that “any serious study of Santmat teachings must include the hymns and spiritual discourses of Sant Tulsi Sahib”.

“While Sant Tulsi Sahab laid the foundation of the Santmat tradition of modern times, it was exquisitely served and enriched in a unique way by Maharsi Mehi Paramhans ji Maharaj. Maharshi Mehi was a direct disciple of Baba Devi Sahab of Muradabad, Uttar Pradesh, India who had special blessings of Sant Tulsi Sahab…

“…The greatest and most unique contribution of Maharshi Mehi was that he brought together, bridged the gulf that had come to separate not only the Holy Scriptures [of Hinduism] and the Santmat but also the different traditions or sects of Sants from each other.”

Rivers Become the Ocean

Rivers Become the Ocean

"Just as the water of the river find peace in union with the ocean, in the same manner when the soul unites with God, duality disappears, and the soul becomes tranquil. The river is no longer a river -- it becomes the ocean. When the soul (atman) is united with the One or God it is no longer an individual soul (Jivatma), but it is the Supreme Soul (Paramatma). This is the highest state of achievement and bliss: the state of complete unity of the Soul and God."

Turning God-wards and Returning to the Source -- God is Just Behind Our Eyes at the Third Eye Center

Turning God-wards and Returning to the Source -- God is Just Behind Our Eyes at the Third Eye Center

"Our optimal dharma [way, path] is to follow the dharma of the soul (atman) by turning inward and returning to the Source." (Swami SantSevi Ji Maharaj)

Sant Dadu Dayal Ji asks his disciples to seek the Divine within: "O benevolent one! Enter in your inner self, and search. He [God] is very near to you. Abandon all your worldly desires and distractions. By inverting your immature consciousness current (which tends to get distracted by senses) get established, in the self [within] …"

Sant Kabir says: "By withdrawing (from the sense organs) and becoming absorbed in one’s own self the infinite light dawns and manifests... Turn inward and move forward by gathering your dispersed mind... When the water of a vessel (individual soul) merges back into the river (Inner Being, God) then we call this the state of supreme wisdom...."

Guru Nanak Dev says: "[Beholding] the inverted lotus which is full of nectar [indicating the joyous experiences within], now my mind goes not elsewhere."

Sant Gulal Sahab also advises to go inward: "Go inward and see the light permeating within…"

Sant Tulsi Sahab says: "Turn inward and fly to the greatest heights, and leaving the various realms of existence unite your soul with the Divine."

Sant Shivnarayan Swami says: "Looking inward go inward and see the light  permeating within… Lo! By closing the eyes behold the burst of light...."

-- Swami SantSevi Ji Maharaj, quotes found in the book, Harmony Of All Religions (Sarvadharma Samanvy):  https://www.Scribd.com/doc/106514513/Harmony-Of-All-Religions

God is Just Behind Our Eyes at the Third Eye Center

“God is just behind our eyes. How may we contact Him? Emerging from Sach Khand [the True, Eternal, Timeless, Spiritual Realm], the True,  Eternal Name or Positive Power is flowing down and is behind our eyes. How may we contact it? On the outside we meet the Satguru. We receive instruction from him or her about the Naam, the Word, withdraw our consciousness from toe to the Eye level, and merge our consciousness into the Word or Sound Current which is resounding there [behind the eyes at the Third Eye Center].”

-- Baba Kehar Singh’s Commentary on the Anurag Sagar, Volume Three
