Canadian Cult Inspires Rock Opera

This is the story about a crazy cult influenced by Theosophy during the 1920's. Eventually cult members rebelled and "Wilson [Brother XII] and Skottowe [his partner and group "enforcer" also known as "Madame Z"] then escaped in their private tugboat, the Kheunaten, rather than appear in court to answer the charges brought by their former disciples. By 1932 they had fled to Europe, and were reported to have taken a large amount of gold with them. Wilson is reported to have died in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, on 7 November 1934, though he may have fabricated his death." (Wikipedia entry for Brother XII)

Crazy Canadian Brother XII Cult - these twelvers established the Aquarian Foundation in British Columbia in 1927. Edward Arthur Wilson (25 July 1878 - 7 November 1934), better known as Brother XII, was an English mystic who, in the late 1920s, founded a spiritual community located just south of the city of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, off the west coast of British Columbia, Canada.

Shri Hazur Ardh Nam 

His Holiness is the present Acharya for Shri Kabir Dharm Sthan Kharsiya and Lahartara, Varanasi, India. At the age of twelve he gained his Guru Diksha from Panth Shri Hazur 1008 Udit Nam Saheb, and was educated at Banaras Hindu University where he earned his Shastri and philosophy degrees. 

He travels around India spreading the urgent message of Kabir Saheb of peace, love, equality, harmony and inner realization that the same atma dwells in all of us. Guru Kabir said, "Just as fire is in the flint-stone, just so God is in all of us. But the mind does not 'ignite' so we remain in darkness." He is now also spreading the message outside India. 

His Holiness tirelessly spends time in fulfilling the dreams of Panth Shri Hazur 1008 Udit Nam Sahib to develop the Ashram at Shri Kabir Dharm Sthan, Lahartara for the world to visit and benefit from its spiritual teachings and peaceful environment

Dear Friends, devotees, supporters and families,

Greetings from the Guru Kabir Association of Canada.

This is an email invitation for the programs, discourses (pravachans), and bhajans and to receive his blessings. Please note the dates and times.

Kabir (1398-1518) was one of the foremost mystical saints of India who lived a simple life of a weaver. He had no formal education, and mentally composed hundreds of devotional bhajans and thousands of sakhis or couplets attesting to spiritual life, the immediacy of God in all our hearts, and the simple way of Sahaj Yoga to realize Him. He taught universal brotherhood, equality of all people irrespective of castes, love for all, and to realize God in this life. His teachings can be said to be one of an inner path to inner awakening to Reality. He taught avoidance of religious hypocrisy, and the practice of Truth an all activities. He is hailed as the father of Hindi poetry, and the originator of Nirgun bhakti (worship of formless God, who is beyond all attributes).

Shri Hazur Ardh Nam Saheb is a monk. He was the disciple of the late Hazur Udit Nam Saheb. He studied at the Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, and obtained his Shastri and Sanskrit philosophy degrees. Though he is headquartered at Lahartara, Varanasi, he travels widely in India to deliver the teachings of Kabir Saheb. There are a few millions of Kabir devotees that have allegiance to him.

He is coming to Canada for the first time, and will be the guest of the Kabir Association of Canada, based in Surrey. Once he leaves Surrey on August 11th, he will go to Edmonton and Toronto, then returning to UK and to India.

Kedarnath, Kashi, Mathura, and Ayodhya. I even searched the Girnar mountain.
I searched East, West, North and South and wandered in the world.
I searched the sixty-eight places of pilgrimage trying to find you, and could not.
I have done prayers, austerities and fasting many times, and have practiced discipline and righteous living.
But I have not seen you even in my dreams, 0 Master! What sort of luck I have!
I do not have happiness in the day and can't sleep at night.
My whole body has become restless.
Please now give your Darshan [Vision] to
your servant Dharam Das and take him across this worldly ocean of rebirths.

0 my dear devotee, where are you searching for me? I am already with you.
I am not in the places of pilgrimage or in deities, or in an isolated dwelling.
I am not in the temples and mosques, and I am not in the holy city of Kashi or Mount Kailash.
I am not in the recitation of prayers or in austerities, or in ritual fasting.
I do not dwell in rituals or in yoga, or in renunciation.
I am not in the breath or in the material body, or in the expanse of space.
I am not in the cave of the trikuti, but I am in the breath of the breath.
If you search for me you'll find me immediately, even in a moment.
Kabir says, 'Dear brothers, listen to me! I dwell in your faith."
