Love is the Force of Attraction That Sustains the Universe - Prem Patra Radhasoami

Love is the Force of Attraction That Sustains the Universe

81. Love or affection is but another name of the Force of Attraction (i.e. Quvvat-i-jaziba). It is on account of this force that the entire universe, which has come into existence through the combination of small particles and atoms, is being maintained. And it is also on account of this force that all bodies or forms are being maintained. If there be no love, no one would care to meet anybody, nor would anyone do any work attentively.

82. When it is established that the whole creation is functioning through love, or rather the whole creation is being maintained and sustained by love, then how can Parmarth ([spirituality] the supreme object), i.e., the union of the Spirit (the Surat or Soul, which is a particle of the Ocean or Reservoir) with Shabd (the Divine Ocean or Reservoir) be achieved without love? How can these two (i.e., the Surat and Shabd) unite?

83. The Supreme Being Radhasoami Dayal [Merciful Lord of the Soul] is, the Ocean or Reservoir of Love, and Surat [the Soul], which is His particle, i.e., emanation or current, is also of the essence of love. Therefore, unless love is engendered in the Surat [the attention-faculty of the Soul], it cannot merge into its Reservoir. In other words, the practice of traversing on this path and reaching the Source (which is known as the practice of Surat and Shabd [yoga or meditation]) could never be performed properly or correctly carried on.

Concentration of Mind and Spirit - Attention - Quality of Focus During Spiritual Practice - Light and Sound on The Path: Sant Mat, Radhasoami, Inner Light and Sound Meditation (Surat Shabd Yoga Bhakti)

Concentration of Mind and Spirit - Attention - Quality of Focus During Spiritual Practice - Light and Sound on The Path: Sant Mat, Radhasoami, Inner Light and Sound Meditation (Surat Shabd Yoga Bhakti), By Huzur Maharaj Rai Saligram (pictured below)

"How can, then, the spiritual practices, prescribed by Sants, which are extremely delicate and subtle, be felt enjoyable without the concentration of mind and spirit? Just as the food comes in contact with the tongue at the time of eating, yet its taste cannot be enjoyed if the attention is elsewhere, so if the mind and spirit of the practitioner did reach up to the Form or partially come in contact with the current of Shabd, no joy and bliss can be experienced in Dhyan and Bhajan, if the attention is directed elsewhere, i. e., engaged in worldly thoughts. It is, therefore, very important that the attention is kept under control at the time of devotional practices. In other words, joy would be experienced only, if the attention is focused on Form and Shabd, otherwise one would achieve nothing at the end of his devotional practice and would feel unhappy."

"If, at the time of Abhyas [meditation practice], a Parmarthi [spiritual devotee] turns his attention upwards internally and tries to fix it on the Form or Shabd or any particular region, as prescribed by Sants, the currents of mind, spirit and sight would, unfailingly, flow upwards and as long as no other thought causes a disturbance, i.e., no contrary current is set in motion, the direction of that current would remain upwards and some joy and bliss would surely be experienced, in consequence of this abstraction and withdrawal of the spirit current, because the higher region is one of greater joy and bliss, than the plane on which the Spirit is normally located in the wakeful condition."

Just Uproot the Attention from Here and Plant it There - Kirpal Singh

Just Uproot the Attention from Here and Plant it There - Kirpal Singh

"So all true masters say that realizing God is a simple matter -- What is there to realizing the Lord? Just uproot the attention from here and plant it there. It is simply a matter of withdrawing and gathering together the scattered attention. The whole thing depends upon your attention, or surat as it is called, which is the outward expression of your soul. Wherever you keep it engaged or attached, those very thoughts will always be reverberating within you.

"We have to make the best use of things of course, but we are not to become attached to them. If we can only attach our soul to something higher within us, we would be alright. But, if our attention is diverted through the outgoing faculties so much so that it becomes identified with the outer things, what is the result? You cannot withdraw your attention from them.

"It is a question of the attention or surat, whether you keep it engaged to the outside things or invert and attach it to your Overself."

-- The Teachings of Kirpal Singh, The Complete Set of Five Books Combined in One Volume

"The Master-Power overhead is always aware of His children’s needs and yearnings, and He acts in their best interests." (THE TEACHINGS OF KIRPAL SINGH, The Complete Set of Five Books Combined in One Volume)

Listen to the Satsangs Every Day -- Baba Ram Singh #SantMat #Radhasoami

Listen to the Satsangs Every Day -- Baba Ram Singh

(Sant Mat SatGuru Lineage: Swami Ji Maharaj to Baba Jaimal Singh to Hazur Baba Sawan Singh to Baba Somanath to Baba Ram Singh)

"Saints say, 'Listen to the Satsangs every day.' By doing that, you will continue to have your love and affection towards the Master. And slowly, but gradually, you will get that love and affection which you have outside in the outside world towards your Master.

"We cannot do or listen to Satsang once in a fortnight or once a month because our love and affection in the world outside is drawing us all the time. And if we want to get that love and affection towards our Master and towards God Almighty, then we have to bring it into our everyday life.

"That is why we should do our Bhajan Simran every day and we should listen to Satsang every day and fulfill the purpose of the life that has been given to us...

"He [Paltu Sahib] says, 'By doing our Simran Dhyan every day, we will gradually be able to leave the six chakras and come to the seventh chakra, and there, we will be able to open our Third Eye.'

"Once we reach there, we see our own soul. And then, all the duality outside, we come to know of the reality and all of this duality goes away.

"So there, we develop true knowledge of ourselves. We understand truly that we are not this body. We are not this mind. We are different. And we get that divine knowledge about ourselves.

"So, we should stay aloof in this world. We do not have to leave our worldly ways, but we have to remain aloof in that.

"So, as long as we do not develop that sense of being aloof in this world and get that love and affection to the Master, we will not be able to go within. And, for doing so, we have to do our Simran every day -- our Simran and Dhyan every day -- and listen to the Satsang every day. Currently, we have our affection in this world. We have this massive attachment towards our families and towards everything else in this world. So, the priority vis-à-vis the Master, is all our family and all our possessions, and everything outside. And that is why we are not able to concentrate. We are not able to get the mind stilled to go within.

"To still the mind -- to go within -- we need to still the mind. And to still the mind, we need love and affection. We need love towards the Master.

"Now, as long as we don't have that love to the Master, and instead, we have our love and affection spread in the rest of the world, we will never be able to go within on this Path.

"When we develop that love and affection towards the Master and towards Naam, then we don't need to get any cues from anybody. The meditation will automatically start happening.

"So, therefore, we should listen to Satsang every day. And we should do our Bhajan Simran every day. And this is what we have been given this precious life for."

Life Has Been Wasted if We Do Not Enter the Eye Center - Baba Sawan Singh

Life Has Been Wasted if We Do Not Enter the Eye Center - Baba Sawan Singh

"The sum total of these observations is that there is one power and one only — the Sound Current — which leads us from the eye center to our Spiritual Home. All other powers (without exception) keep us confined to the material and mental planes, giving us forms according to our actions. If, during lifetime, entry has been made into the eye center and the Sound Current (Bell sound) has been grasped, life has been usefully spent. If this has not been done, even though all else has been done — and most successfully — then life has been wasted. This done, all is done; this not done, all else done is as if nothing is done. Such is the finding of Sant Mat and it is a fact. It is not an arbitrary mandate." - Baba Sawan Singh Ji

Satsang: When the Surat-disciple Meets the Shabd-Guru, the Path will be Traversed

Satsang: When the Surat-disciple Meets the Shabd-Guru, the Path will be Traversed

Light and Sound on the Path - August 13:

The Path of the Sants: Sant Mat

"He alone is the Adept, the Holy and the Gnostic, who is in rapport with the Divine. Says Namdev, he alone has obtained peace in whom God's Name has taken abode." (Hindi Padavali of Sant Namdev)

Maharshi Mehi has clearly stated that Sant Mat is not a new creed. It is a union of all the Sants (God-realized souls). We respect all the Sants. We study the speeches of all the Saints and remember them, and follow them. If we dive into the opinions of Sants (Saints) like Buddha, Sant Kabir, Guru Nanak, Dadu, Sant Tulsi Das, Sant Paltu, Swami Ramkrishna, Sant Tulsi Sahab, Baba Devi, etc. you will get one and only one way to attain salvation. There will never be a little bit difference among their views on Drishti Yoga (the Yoga of Vision) and Surat-Shabda Yoga (the Yoga of Sound) for self-realization and God-realization. (TheSantMat.com)

"Without the Saints, O Tulsi, we are tossed about endlessly. Without the merciful, compassionate Master, aeon after aeon we rove." (Shabdavali of Param Sant Tulsi Sahib of Hathras)

Meditate

The individual soul (jiva), bound by illusion (maya), remains in the cycle of death and birth. This is the cause of one's suffering. In order to escape from this cycle of death and rebirth we must experience realization of the Supreme Being. (Maharshi Mehi, The Principles of Sant Mat)

"The individual soul is an inseparable part of the Supreme Being." (Maharshi Mehi, The Principles of Sant Mat)

Sant Namdev: "Whatever man thinketh, that he obtaineth. If he were to dwell on the Absolute........he would become immortal." (Adi Granth)

Tulsi Sahib said: "When the Surat-disciple meets the Shabd-guru, the path will be traversed."

O Guru ! You let my consciousness ascend the sky.
Kindly let me catch the current of seven melodies that is the Quintessential One,
After allowing me to catch the support of your Radiant Being,
Let me have a glimpse of your highly resplendent Vision.
(Padavali of Maharshi Mehi)

"One who is called the disciple of a True Guru should get up early in the morning and meditate on the Guru's Nam. He should put in efforts to bathe in the Pond of Nectar early in the morning." (Adi Granth)

Surat -- Attention

The term "Surat" means: Attention or individual consciousness, the attention of the Soul, the ability of the Soul to concentrate within, and experience the bliss of inner regions, Self-absorbed intelligent Energy, Spirit.

Surat Shabd Yoga: Surat refers to spirit and Shabd to the Sound Current; hence, it is the union the soul with Shabd; the spiritual exercise by which the Current of Consciousness is applied to the hearing of the Sound within; joining the mind and the Attention to the Sound Current. Surat Shabd Yoga: Union (Yoga) of the Soul (Surat) with the Inner Light and Sound of God (Shabd).

"A human being's attention is the most precious treasure he possesses." (Edward Salim Michael, "The Law of Attention - Nada Yoga and the Way of Inner Vigilance")

Quality of Concentration in Meditation: "Single-pointedness results in absolute concentration, which causes ascension (vertical rise) enabling one to move onto a higher level or stage. This way it would be possible to transcend all illusory sheaths [subtle bodies, astral, causal, etc...]." (Maharshi Mehi Paramahans, The Way of Liberation)

Sant Ravidas [Raidas]: When the soul (surat) mergeth into the Sound (Shabd) and becometh one with it, then one obtaineth the supreme Bliss. The lamp burneth inside, 0 Ravidas, and Divine Bliss ariseth within. Steeped in meditation with one-pointed attention, practice devotion to God, 0 Ravidas. Let the automatic repetition be continued within, Reverberating the True Naam.

"From the Source of the Ocean opens a Window of Light. Awaken that resplendent Light within thee....Repeat the name of the Lord and secure Him." (Shabdavali of Param Sant Tulsi Sahib of Hathras)

"Moment by moment gather thy soul and hold it at the Eye Center. Cleanse thou the mirror of thy mind, and catch the Divine Melody with thy soul. If thy longing is keen, thou shalt pierce the veil and attain the Quintessence." (Shabdavali of Param Sant Tulsi Sahib of Hathras)

"Within thine own self, behold the splendor of thy Beloved. In the pupil of thine eye is a mole, wherein is hidden the entire mystery. Peep within and behold thou what lieth beyond this dark curtain. The secret of the fourteen realms will, for certain, be disclosed to thee. Let thy attention not slip, see that thou art ever vigilant." (Shabdavali of Sant Tulsi Sahib of Hathras)

"I beheld in the firmament an inverted well, and was filled with resplendence of Light within." (Shabdavali of Sant Tulsi Sahib of Hathras)

Tulsi Sahib: "The disciple sees within himself the Akash (sky) which is like an inverted well, and merges his Surat [soul's attention] in it."

The glittering point between the two eyebrows is visible, O brothers! Closing your eyelids, try to see. Let the two currents of light converge at the central point of the eyebrows. Fix your gaze and cross your bodily sphere. Enter the egg of the universe. The sky, studded with stars, looks so wonderful. Light, like the earthern lamp, is visible that eliminates the darkness of the closed eyes. The incomparable Moonlight, unique in itself is spread in all corners. And the light of the young Sun also radiates beautifully. Surat, with its spiritual vision, catches the multiple Sounds without being impaired. O individual souls! Catching these Sounds with a Surat-like rope, traverse the final abode, which is the real home. Mehi has revealed this mystery, the Quintessential One. One who serves Guru without any cleverness, has no difficulty in reaching the real home. (Padavali of Maharshi Mehi)

The Quintessential One along with Surat at the final stage disappears. The very stage of Soundlessness, Wordlessness or Namelessness is entirely different. According to Mehi that stage is devoid of dualism. Surat [soul], merging with the Absolute, never returns to the physical world. (Padavali of Maharshi Mehi)

Kabir: I went looking for Him, and lost myself;
The drop merged with the Sea.
Who can find it now?
Looking and looking for Him, I lost myself;
The Sea merged with the drop.
Who can find it now?

"The drop merges in the Ocean and becomes one with IT." (Param Sant Tulsi Sahib)
