Mystic Verses of Sant Dariya Sahib of Bihar on Meditation from the Dariya Sagar (Ocean of Dariya)

Mystic Verses of Sant Dariya Sahib of Bihar on Meditation from the Dariya Sagar (Ocean of Dariya)

Rhyming Verses of Sant Dariya Sahib (followed by Sakhis, Chaupais, and Sorathas further below)

Sakhi (Couplet)

In the lotus of eight petals, hums the bee—

Hear that Sound, ponder deeply and see.

Steer your mind into the inner stream,

Cast off delusions, awaken from the dream.

Chaupai (Quatrains)

The primal Word resounds with radiant light,

Hold your awareness on that single site.

Tie the thread of attention with care,

The primal Word alone leads you there.

The sun and moon arise from one domain,

Follow that thread—delay not in vain.

From primal Sound flows all Sounds divine,

Dwell where that echo does shine.

Above all speech, that root remains,

In spontaneous calm, the One sustains.

There, the scent of truth does fill the air,

The soul swan drinks deeply in joy rare.

Become a servant at the true Guru’s side,

Through love and devotion, let ego subside.

O Lord, I call you mine and true—

My mind is bound in love to You.

To break illusion, this is the key:

Let the soul-swan from falsehood flee.

Anchor your focus, guard it well,

Leave behind karma, break that spell.

Who reflects on the True Word,

Shall cross the ocean—pure as a bird.

These truths cannot be fully spoken—

To the Unspeakable, let your mind be woken.

Chhand (Verse)

The path ahead is deep, like the sea—

But merge Sound and thought, and you'll be free.

The undying light, the wondrous Word,

By seeing that, bliss is conferred.

In the unseen realm, where stillness rings,

Fix your mind—let go of things.

Drink the nectar of good and wise deeds,

Taste the fruit that your soul truly needs.

Soratha (Rhymed Couplets)

The deathless light is blazing bright,

The primal Sound holds truth and might.

Fix your mind with steadfast grace—

That river leads beyond time and space.

Chaupai (continued)

The unfathomable calls your soul within—

Keep your lotus-mind free from sin.

When love’s needle pierces deep,

The purest light within will leap.

By diving deep into Self’s true lore,

Your inner lotus begins to soar.

We’ve spoken of this mystic thread—

It’s the sky’s own path, where illusion is shed.

Sakhi (Mystic Couplets) of Sant Dariya Sahib

In the lotus with eight petals, the bee hums — listen carefully and contemplate the divine Word. Look within the ocean of your own consciousness, and abandon all delusions.

Chaupai (Quatrain):

From the primal Sound arises the divine light. Focus your awareness and fix it in one place.

Tie your consciousness with the thread of inner attention — that is the way to attain the primal Sound.

When the moon (mind) and head (consciousness) unite within the same house (inner self), then the inner thread begins to resonate.

The primal Sound begins to express itself — go there and settle yourself.

Beyond the unspeakable, lies the root (source) — dwell joyfully in that subtle realm.

Fragrance, sweetness, and bliss flow from there — the soul (like a swan) drinks and is filled with joy.

Be a servant at the feet of the True Guru, where service, devotion, and love are revealed.

I say to you, O Lord — You are my beloved. My mind is aligned only with You.

Renounce delusion — this is the only path. By it, the swan-soul reaches the hidden, divine realms.

Keep your awareness focused and attentive — abandon the pull of worldly karma and customs.

Whoever reflects on the true Word (Shabd) — that swan (soul) crosses the ocean of existence.

This ineffable truth cannot truly be spoken — but let your awareness reside in that unspeakable realm.

Chhand (Metered Verse):

The path ahead is like a subtle fish — only discerned by those who contemplate the Sound and Awareness.

The eternal Light and the wondrous divine Word — seeing that, one finds true bliss.

In that unfathomable realm, beyond reach of the senses, peace and stillness abide in the mind.

Those who follow the path of truth and righteousness — taste the fruit of immortality there.

Soratha (Metered Verse):

The undying light shines forth — the primal Word is its essence.

Hold your awareness and focus — and behold the river free from illusion and sorrow.

Chaupai (Continued):

Awaken your subtle awareness toward the inaccessible (divine realm), drawing the mind inward.

When the restless mind is pierced by divine yearning — the pure light of love is awakened.

Deep knowledge arises from true contemplation — and even the dark lotus of time begins to shine.

I have told much of this unfathomable story — it reflects signs of the vast divine sky.

In this world, I have come to speak the eternal truth:

Rare are the souls who are absorbed in the path of divine love.

The sweet grace (prasād) is obtained at the feet (of the divine);

One who receives the essence-word (Sār Shabd) is crowned like a swan (a symbol of purity and discernment).

Whoever accepts this sweetness as truth,

Becomes a swan and crosses over the ocean of worldly existence.

Hold fast to your own true self, O brother, and fix your consciousness (surat) there —

That sacred mark (ṭīkā) will merge you into divine essence.

Before the mark (ṭīkā) comes deep silence (gūlā),

Where the word of love (prema Shabd) is coarse and weighty.

The white banner waves day and night,

Made of nectar, it is very beautiful.

There, diamonds and rubies glow,

Pearls and gems are set in all four directions.

Such is the abode of the true self (nij lok),

Filled with rose-like faces and nectarous breath.

One who applies even a trace of the nectar-element (amī tattva) to their attention,

Easily attains that world.

The eternal word (Sat Shabd) increases divine love

And draws one into the service of saints and sages.

He who has recognized the thief and the true master,

Let him place his mind there — show some love for him, O brother!

Mute and profound is the one who reflects on true wisdom;

Follow the path of divine insight.

The witness of knowledge lights the lamp of vision —

Believe what I have said.

The Guru is a vast ocean —

Understand this and see for yourself, just once!

Chaupai (quatrain):

When all three ages (Satya, Treta, Dvapara) pass away,

Then the pain of Kali Yuga arises.

At that time, the righteous call upon the wise,

Who then explain the words of the Lord.

The Master says, ‘Listen, O servant:

All souls perish in fear of Yama (death).

The Master says again, ‘Listen with attention —

What means can save the soul?’

When the final age (Nastayuga) spreads,

That will be the only nourishment for all beings.

Before this, the world was destroyed by illusion;

Righteousness was abandoned, and the body withered.

All forms and bodies perished;

Even great warriors and heroes met their end.

The Master says again, ‘Listen attentively —

What method will save the soul?’

I call out in the true word (Sat Shabd):

This alone is the means to protect the world.

Let us, the swans (souls), go there —

This is the only way to preserve life (liberation of the soul).

Take with you the merit of good deeds (Sukriti);

The swan of wisdom has flown to the higher worlds.

Take with you the virtue of truth-filled speech —

Truth will ensure you never suffer in the land of Yama (death).

This age is harsh, the land full of darkness —

Let truth, contentment, and wisdom be your guide.

For one who attains knowledge and wisdom,

He never suffers the punishment of Yama's realm.

Whoever knows Me (the Divine), I dwell in them —

I honor such a soul as a true saint.

Those who know only the true Word (Sat Shabd),

They attain the fearless realm of saints.

Such souls dwell always with Me —

They drink the nectar of immortality constantly.

Many are the ways to preserve such a soul —

He becomes immortal, never perishes, O brother.

Rare is the one who truly knows this,

Only saints recognize the path to liberation.

He who contemplates the nectar Name (Amrit Naam),

His dwelling is in the immortal realm.

One who has never slandered, even in dreams,

And remains absorbed in loving meditation —

He sees all beings as one life force,

Sees all as flowing from the same source.

He has never committed spiritual suicide (violence to the soul),

And remains immersed in self-worship (inner contemplation).

He who meditates day and night,

Sings no other Name but the True Name (Satnam).

The essence of Sakhi (sayings) is Satnam —

It alone leads one to the immortal realm.

When one meets the True Guru,

All attachments and illusions are erased.

Chaupai (quatrain)

Satnam is the formless support —

Time (death) has no power over it.

Even those who dwell in Indra's heaven,

Are not spared by Time’s destruction.

Brahma dwells in Brahmaloka,

Even he is crushed by Time.

The single Unmanifest One (Niranjan) deludes all —

Without recognizing Him, no one attains liberation.

Let no one believe false words —

Let mankind contemplate the True Word.

When the lifeless (spiritually dead) or blind are struck by fate,

The Name of the Divine rescues the world.

We came from the higher realms —

By holding to the true Word, we attained joy.

Why We Begin Meditation at the Third Eye Center in Sant Mat… It’s the Seat of the Soul — Baba Ram Singh

Why We Begin Meditation at the Third Eye Center in Sant Mat… It’s the Seat of the Soul — Baba Ram Singh

When we sit for meditation, we close our eyes and then we focus our thoughts at the back of the Eye Center. And our faculty of visualization is also there, which also visualizes the Form of the Master within. And by doing Simran, we concentrate our attention and focus at the back of the Eye Center. Then, automatically, when we sit for meditation, our attention starts getting focused on the Form of a Master at the back of the Eye Center.

There are the rishis and munis who also do meditation. But their meditation and their focus and attention are slightly different. Instead of focusing at the back of the Eye Center, what they do is, they start focusing on the chakras.

So, in the physical body, we have six chakras. And starting from the lowest chakra, they start doing the mantra. Each chakra has a mantra, and what they do is, they repeat the mantras. And, when a certain number of times that mantra is done, tens of thousands of times, then that chakra opens up. And, that way, they start progressing by opening each of these chakras and going inside and up within their body. So, for them to take and open each of the six chakras and then the seventh above that and go up, inside, it takes a very, very long time.

Mahatmas say that when someone has to climb a mountain and he is midway, standing on the mountain, there is no point in going down to the bottom of the mountain and then climbing all the way up again. Instead, he should climb upwards from where he is.

The soul is currently situated at the back of the Eye Center. And, therefore, Saints say that you start from there. You start focusing there and focus your attention where the soul and the Master stay. That is at the back of the Eye Center.

Therefore, we should lovingly focus our attention and do the Simran and the Dhyan, that is, the contemplation of the Form of the Master while doing Simran at the back of the Eye Center. When we do this lovingly, we also start getting the Grace of the Master there.

The Unpublished Letters of Kirpal Singh on Meditation Practice - Spiritual Awakening Radio Podcast

The Unpublished Letters of Kirpal Singh on Meditation Practice

Today I begin with a reading from the mystic verses of Sat Saheb, the initiating spiritual master of Sant Dariya Sahib. Sat Saheb was one of the earlier Sant Satgurus of the Sant Mat guru lineage living a couple of generations prior to the time of Sant Tulsi Sahib of Hathras. His mystic poetry is quite beautiful and composed in the style of the Anurag Sagar and other scriptures of the earlier Kabir-Sant Dharam Das line of masters. Then I share some letters from Sant Kirpal Singh on meditation practice. Those are quite wonderful, and helpful for the satsangi seeking to improve the quality of their meditation experience. Then there's a short discourse from Baba Somanath about becoming the "form of Truth" by focusing upon the teachings of the masters. In conclusion, two satsang discourses by Sant Ram Singh: having focused attention during simran practice that purifies the mind, and, about becoming a gurumukh following the instructions and guidance of the masters instead of being held captive by the limited thoughts of the mind, thus remaining a disciple controlled by the dictates of the mind, a manmukh. "Follow Their Teachings, overcome sorrow, and not only that, you will get the joy of going within. And you will also achieve the purpose for which you have been given this life." (Baba Ram Singh)

Give Priority To Your Meditation - from a Satsang Discourse of Baba Ram Singh - Sant Mat Radhasoami

Give Priority To Your Meditation - from a Satsang Discourse of Baba Ram Singh Ji

THE PATH OF SANT MAT is the path of love and affection. Mahatmas have been explaining that the soul is a form of love and the Master is also a form of love. God Almighty Himself is a form of love. And the Path of going back to God Almighty is also a form of love. But ever since the soul has separated from God Almighty and has got engulfed in the net of Kal and Maya, it has separated from God Almighty and has manifested itself in the form of Kal and Maya here.

So, that same love, which has manifested in the outward pursuits of Kal and Maya here, if we are able to inwardly direct that same love and affection, then we can move within at great speed and velocity.

Therefore, our love and affection have to be prioritized. And, oftentimes, we prioritize all of the other things, all of our mundane activities, and other things. And because we have a love and affection for those things, we prioritize those and we say, "Okay, after we have finished all of those activities, we will sit for meditation." And then, sometimes we sit for meditation; sometimes we do not sit for meditation. And that's how our meditation gets affected.

So, if you have love and affection for your Master, then you will prioritize that love and affection for giving priority to your meditation first.

It is, therefore, incumbent on a disciple, once he has been initiated, to prioritize his meditation. He should always keep that to the forefront and do his meditation first, and then all of the other activities should follow that.

And why do we do this meditation? It is so that we get free from this ocean of life and death and we rid ourselves from this illness of life and death. And that is the technique -- that is the trick -- that the Master has taught us. That is what we should do -- and do it with a priority.

Concentration of Mind and Spirit - Attention - Quality of Focus During Spiritual Practice - Light and Sound on The Path: Sant Mat, Radhasoami, Inner Light and Sound Meditation (Surat Shabd Yoga Bhakti)

Concentration of Mind and Spirit - Attention - Quality of Focus During Spiritual Practice - Light and Sound on The Path: Sant Mat, Radhasoami, Inner Light and Sound Meditation (Surat Shabd Yoga Bhakti), By Huzur Maharaj Rai Saligram (pictured below)

"How can, then, the spiritual practices, prescribed by Sants, which are extremely delicate and subtle, be felt enjoyable without the concentration of mind and spirit? Just as the food comes in contact with the tongue at the time of eating, yet its taste cannot be enjoyed if the attention is elsewhere, so if the mind and spirit of the practitioner did reach up to the Form or partially come in contact with the current of Shabd, no joy and bliss can be experienced in Dhyan and Bhajan, if the attention is directed elsewhere, i. e., engaged in worldly thoughts. It is, therefore, very important that the attention is kept under control at the time of devotional practices. In other words, joy would be experienced only, if the attention is focused on Form and Shabd, otherwise one would achieve nothing at the end of his devotional practice and would feel unhappy."

"If, at the time of Abhyas [meditation practice], a Parmarthi [spiritual devotee] turns his attention upwards internally and tries to fix it on the Form or Shabd or any particular region, as prescribed by Sants, the currents of mind, spirit and sight would, unfailingly, flow upwards and as long as no other thought causes a disturbance, i.e., no contrary current is set in motion, the direction of that current would remain upwards and some joy and bliss would surely be experienced, in consequence of this abstraction and withdrawal of the spirit current, because the higher region is one of greater joy and bliss, than the plane on which the Spirit is normally located in the wakeful condition."

The Path of Inner Light and Sound, the Path of the Masters, is Within and Created by the Supreme Being - Light and Sound on The Path (Inner Light and Sound, The Path of the Masters, Sant Mat, Radhasoami)

The Path of Inner Light and Sound, the Path of the Masters, is Within and Created by the Supreme Being - Light and Sound on The Path (Inner Light and Sound, The Path of the Masters, Sant Mat, Radhasoami)

"According to Sant Mat, having crossed these realms or levels, we achieve the final goal called Mukti (i.e. salvation). To attain liberation/salvation, Sant Mat does not follow numerous complicated practices, but two essential methods:

1) Drishti Marg (i.e. the Path of Inner Light/Vision) and,

2) Shabd Marg (i.e. the Way of Inner Sound/Transcendental Hearing).

"Unlike other worship methods popular in religions and sects with different names, these two methods are not man-made. God himself is the founder and operator of these methods. Since the beginning God has kept these two methods inside human beings with full qualifications. The way of redemption of jivas (i.e. bounded souls) is available within all human beings." (Baba Devi Sahab of Moradabad)

Baba Ram Singh: "When our soul came from God Almighty into this world, it came via the Sound Current and, at each plane, it came by the connecting Sound Current into this world. And when the soul has to go back to God Almighty, it will also ascend on this same Sound Current and, plane by plane, it will go back to God Almighty.

"This Path has been created by God Almighty. It has not been created by any Mahatma or Saint. And God has set this Path for the soul to come into this world and also to go back to God Almighty.

"Swami Ji Maharaj has, therefore, said in His Bani, 'Only when a Saint -- Who knows the way or the path of the Sound Current -- only when such a Saint is met, then one soul or jiva can get salvation and go back to God Almighty on the Sound Current.' So, the same Path, and the same process, is followed for all the four yugas. And the Saints have always been there in this world. This world is never empty of Saints. So, these Saints are always there. At any time, there are Saints in this world. Some Saints are known to everyone. Some Saints are not known. But there is never a time when the Saints are not here in this world." (excerpted from, Some Saints Are Known And Some Are Not -- But There Has Never Been A Time When The Saints Are Not Here In This World, Meditation Talk During the Morning of January 21st, 2023)

Mystic Verses of Kabir - Light and Sound on The Path (Sant Mat, Radhasoami)

Mystic Verses of Kabir - Light and Sound on The Path (Sant Mat, Radhasoami)

Open your eyes of love, and see Him who pervades this world,

consider it well, and know that this is your own country.

When you meet the true Guru, He will awaken your heart;

He will tell you the secret of love and detachment, and then you

will know indeed that He transcends this universe.

This world is the City of Truth, its maze of paths enchants the

heart:

We can reach the goal without crossing the road, such is the

sport unending.

Where the ring of manifold joys ever dances about Him, there is

the sport of Eternal Bliss.

When we know this, then all our receiving and renouncing is

over;

Thenceforth the heat of having shall never scorch us more.

He is the Ultimate Rest unbounded:

He has spread His form of love throughout all the world.

From that Ray which is Truth, streams of new forms are

perpetually springing: and He pervades those forms.

All the gardens and groves and bowers are abounding with blossom;

and the air breaks forth into ripples of joy.

There the swan plays a wonderful game,

There the Unstruck Music eddies around the Infinite One;

There in the midst the Throne of the Unheld is shining, whereon

the great Being sits --

Millions of suns are shamed by the radiance of a single hair of

His body.

On the harp of the road what true melodies are being sounded!

and its notes pierce the heart:

There the Eternal Fountain is playing its endless life-streams of

birth and death.

They call Him Emptiness who is the Truth of truths, in Whom all

truths are stored!

There within Him creation goes forward, which is beyond all

philosophy; for philosophy cannot attain to Him:

There is an endless world, O my Brother! and there is the

Nameless Being, of whom naught can be said.

Only he knows it who has reached that region: it is other than

all that is heard and said.

No form, no body, no length, no breadth is seen there: how can I

tell you that which it is?

He comes to the Path of the Infinite on whom the grace of the

Lord descends: he is freed from births and deaths who attains

to Him.

Kabir says: "It cannot be told by the words of the mouth, it

cannot be written on paper:

It is like a dumb person who tastes a sweet thing--how shall it

be explained?"      (Songs of Kabir, Rabindranath Tagore)

Go thou to the company of the good, where the Beloved One has His

dwelling place:

Take all thy thoughts and love and instruction from thence.

Let that assembly be burnt to ashes where His Name is not spoken!

Tell me, how couldst thou hold a wedding-feast, if the bridegroom

himself were not there?

Waver no more, think only of the Beloved;

Set not thy heart on the worship of other gods, there is no worth

in the worship of other masters.

Kabir deliberates and says: "Thus thou shalt never find the

Beloved!  (Songs of Kabir, Rabindranath Tagore)

"He who realizes this Essence of the Word has no need to observe religious fasts, bathing in holy rivers, daily religious rituals, prayers in the morning and evening, and of going on pilgrimages. Such a realized person is indeed in direct contact with God, and has arisen above all the daily religious observances." (Brahm Nirupan of Kabir)

Kabir, Songs of the Divine: Silent Meditation...

Kabir, Songs of the Divine: Silent Meditation...

Let your mind be earnestly absorbed

in silent meditation on God.

Embrace the divine melody and light,

and ascend the channel of meditation.

While sitting in the meditative posture,

let energy flow in the sushumna.

With mind focused and still,

direct it into your inner self

where you will find God, in your heart.

Kabir says, “Friends! Only in this manner,

will you attain union with God.”

About Spiritual Masters, Competent Qualified Teachers, Guides, Sant Satgurus of Sant Mat

Some in the West have encountered teachings about Inner Light and Sound Meditation indirectly and then eventually heard that this form of meditation practice actually is derived from a rare spiritual path from India called Sant Mat (the Way or Teachings of the Saints). Spiritual seekers also may have discovered one of our spiritual classics, the book, Path of the Masters, by Julian P. Johnson, were blown away by, it and wish to learn more.

"While we sojourn in this dark region of matter, we have to deal with the negative power. With him we must contend in our struggles for spiritual freedom. It is his duty to try to hold us here, while it is our duty to try to escape. The resulting struggle purges us and makes us strong, and fits us for our homeward journey. This everlasting fight, this struggle in a welter of pain and blood and heart cries, is designed by the supreme Father to purge us and make us clean, ready for our homeward ascent. Let us never become discouraged. All of this is designed by the Father for our benefit. It is much as if one enters a gymnasium to take exercise. If we meet these difficulties in the right spirit, we shall greatly profit by them. The idea of pain and struggle is to purge us and inspire in us a longing to rise above the regions of pain and shadow." (Julian P. Johnson, Path of the Masters)

"The message of the Masters fills the world with hope, and at the same time it offers a rational foundation for such hope. It not only tells people what they should do, but it offers them a definite method of doing it. In the march of the ages, cycle after cycle, in every planet where human beings reside, the great Masters are the Light-Bearers of that world. Until the end of the ages, they will remain the friends and saviors of those who struggle toward the Light." (Julian P. Johnson, Path of the Masters)
