Give Priority To Your Meditation - from a Satsang Discourse of Baba Ram Singh - Sant Mat Radhasoami

Give Priority To Your Meditation - from a Satsang Discourse of Baba Ram Singh Ji

THE PATH OF SANT MAT is the path of love and affection. Mahatmas have been explaining that the soul is a form of love and the Master is also a form of love. God Almighty Himself is a form of love. And the Path of going back to God Almighty is also a form of love. But ever since the soul has separated from God Almighty and has got engulfed in the net of Kal and Maya, it has separated from God Almighty and has manifested itself in the form of Kal and Maya here.

So, that same love, which has manifested in the outward pursuits of Kal and Maya here, if we are able to inwardly direct that same love and affection, then we can move within at great speed and velocity.

Therefore, our love and affection have to be prioritized. And, oftentimes, we prioritize all of the other things, all of our mundane activities, and other things. And because we have a love and affection for those things, we prioritize those and we say, "Okay, after we have finished all of those activities, we will sit for meditation." And then, sometimes we sit for meditation; sometimes we do not sit for meditation. And that's how our meditation gets affected.

So, if you have love and affection for your Master, then you will prioritize that love and affection for giving priority to your meditation first.

It is, therefore, incumbent on a disciple, once he has been initiated, to prioritize his meditation. He should always keep that to the forefront and do his meditation first, and then all of the other activities should follow that.

And why do we do this meditation? It is so that we get free from this ocean of life and death and we rid ourselves from this illness of life and death. And that is the technique -- that is the trick -- that the Master has taught us. That is what we should do -- and do it with a priority.

The Message of the Masters is Sadhana, Spiritual Practice - Light and Sound on the Path

The Message of the Masters is Sadhana, Spiritual Practice - Light and Sound on the Path

"You have to keep on doing Simran and, gradually, with the continuous practice of Simran, Dhyan Bhajan only, the mind can focus and come up to the Third Eye, see the Radiant Form of the Guru and hear the Sound Current. So, Simran is very essential. And if one continuously does Simran, however unfocused the mind is, it gradually gets to the Third Eye. As one keeps on doing Simran repeatedly and regularly, the mind keeps becoming more and more pure. And, as the mind becomes purer, it is able to come up to the Third Eye and see the Radiant Form of the Master within. So, the Masters have always insisted upon the continuity of practice of Dhyan, Bhajan, and Simran. We often do Simran or Dhyan Bhajan for a few days and then leave it. This way we do not maintain continuity and do not do the practice as it should be done. Masters insist that the practice has to be continuous, every day, without a break." (Baba Ram Singh, excerpted from a 2015 satsang discourse on meditation practice, How Bangali Babu Got Control Of His Mind)

Simran! Excerpted from a Satsang Discourse Titled, "You Should Have One Wish — One Aspiration — And That Aspiration Should Be To Pursue Naam", by Baba Ram Singh

Simran! Excerpted from a Satsang Discourse Titled, "You Should Have One Wish — One Aspiration — And That Aspiration Should Be To Pursue Naam", by Baba Ram Singh

Kabir Sahib says, "In that happiness, or in that contentment, if we are forgetting Simran and we are forgetting God Almighty, then let stones and boulders fall on such happiness and such contentment."

That poverty is much better where, in that poverty, we are able to remember God Almighty and we are able to do Simran of God Almighty.

Kabir satguru naam se,

Koti bigan tar jaay,

Kabir satguru naam se,

Koti bigan tar jaay,

Raayi samaan basandara,

Ketha kaat jaraay.

Kabir Sahib says, "The Naam that has been given to us is of very high value. And if we do that Simran for one hour every day and we are connected with Naam, then a lot of impediments, a lot of difficult, that we are likely to face because of our karmas are automatically absorbed by the Grace of the Master — and that helps us."

By doing Simran, we are able to reduce the burden of karmas and, as a result, at the time of our death, when we are leaving this body, we do not have to suffer so much.

If we are not doing our Simran and we're not redeeming those deeds, then those deeds collect and, as a result, ultimately, we have to redeem those deeds by means of a sickness or an ailment, or by means of some sadness or some loss. So, such things, such events, then happen as a result of the build up of such karmas.

The Simran that has been given to us is of a very high order. And where we do Simran, even the place gets purified. At that place, there are no bad influences. No mystical powers also work on you. Neither do the angels of death come and disturb you. Neither does Kal come. And neither does Maha Kal come. Only the Master comes at the time of death of that satsangi.

So, even if we are connected a little with Naam — with Simran — then the Masters shower Their Grace. They are Dayal and They are very gracious and They come at the time of death to take us.

Therefore, we should try to do Simran regularly. And, by that, we are able to gradually reduce the burden of karmas and, at the time of death also, it becomes easier for the Master to take us.

Lene ko satnaam hai,

Dene ko an daan,

Lene ko satnaam hai,

Dene ko an daan,

Tharane ko adheenatha,

Bhudan ko abhimaan.

Kabir Sahib says, "If you have to take something, then take Sat Naam. And, if you have to give something, then you can donate food to someone. Because, by doing so, you will be able to help yourself and you will get the satisfaction of that selfless donation that you are doing."

Kabir Sahib says, “The Naam helps you steer through this ocean of life and death. It helps you steer through this life and takes you back to God Almighty. And if you want to stay afloat here, you have to be generous and you have to be selfless. So, that will keep you afloat. And if you want to drown in this ocean of life and death, then it will be because of your ego."

So, if you have ego, that will be the cause of your drowning. And if you are selfless and you are generous, that will be the cause for you to stay afloat.

Nonduality Reality -- Spiritual Practice, Not Just Theory or Belief

Nonduality Reality -- Spiritual Practice, Not Just Theory or Belief

“You can’t read your way to enlightenment.”
— Stephan Hoeller

"Some people believe that the Almighty and the Soul are 'one' and that to believe this is 'real knowledge'. As far as the origin of the Soul is concerned, this is true. But simply to believe this does not relieve the Soul from the knot of elements, qualities and Mind. Unless all the coverings are shaken off and the liberated Soul, by means of meditation (spiritual practice), assumes all the great powers that are attributed to God and reaches it's source by crossing at least the three grades, (Berat, Hairangarb and Abykirt — the three lowest Heavens)... it is only book knowledge and not real knowledge. Like a parrot that forgets all its learning at the approach of a cat, such book knowledge vanishes away when the angels come to pull and drag the Soul at the time of death.

"Although you are a monarch or an heir to a throne, your boast is idle unless you get freedom from jail, cross the foreign boundary and reach your throne, where everything is at your command.

"Book knowledge does not give you real freedom nor does it restore any of your spirituals powers so that you have to suffer the effects of your actions like your less 'learned' brothers.

"Let the drop of your Soul merge into the Stream of NAAM flowing into the Ocean — the Almighty, the Source of all Souls."
