Love is the Force of Attraction That Sustains the Universe

81. Love or affection is but another name of the Force of Attraction (i.e. Quvvat-i-jaziba). It is on account of this force that the entire universe, which has come into existence through the combination of small particles and atoms, is being maintained. And it is also on account of this force that all bodies or forms are being maintained. If there be no love, no one would care to meet anybody, nor would anyone do any work attentively.

82. When it is established that the whole creation is functioning through love, or rather the whole creation is being maintained and sustained by love, then how can Parmarth ([spirituality] the supreme object), i.e., the union of the Spirit (the Surat or Soul, which is a particle of the Ocean or Reservoir) with Shabd (the Divine Ocean or Reservoir) be achieved without love? How can these two (i.e., the Surat and Shabd) unite?

83. The Supreme Being Radhasoami Dayal [Merciful Lord of the Soul] is, the Ocean or Reservoir of Love, and Surat [the Soul], which is His particle, i.e., emanation or current, is also of the essence of love. Therefore, unless love is engendered in the Surat [the attention-faculty of the Soul], it cannot merge into its Reservoir. In other words, the practice of traversing on this path and reaching the Source (which is known as the practice of Surat and Shabd [yoga or meditation]) could never be performed properly or correctly carried on.

"Mahatmas have been explaining that the soul is a form of love and the Master is also a form of love. God Almighty Himself is a form of love. And the Path of going back to God Almighty is also a form of love. But ever since the soul has separated from God Almighty and has got engulfed in the net of Kal and Maya, it has separated from God Almighty and has manifested itself in the form of Kal and Maya here. 

"So, that same love, which has manifested in the outward pursuits of Kal and Maya here, if we are able to inwardly direct that same love and affection, then we can move within at great speed and velocity..."

"Kabir Sahib says, 'Like we have our mind, which is manifested completely in all outward pursuits, if we are able to turn that manifestation within and we are able to manifest the Naam within with the same love and affection that we currently have for all outward pursuits then, in this life itself, we will reach Sach Khand. Being able to focus that attention within, then there is no power in this creation that can stop you from going back to God Almighty.' It is only that love and affection towards this world outside that is the main cause for us to come back again and again in this ocean of life and death.

"Masters say, 'You have to have your wish for Naam. You should aspire for Naam. Any other aspiration, any other wish for anything outside, is going to only cause you sorrow to come back into this ocean of life and death.'

"So, it is that aspiration for all worldly pursuits that keeps making us come back into this ocean of life and death. We should, therefore, aspire for Naam and we should aspire to go within. Saints say, 'You have spent your lifetime in all these pursuits and on these aspirations and wishes for all outward pursuits. But, now that you have been initiated — now that you know the truth and the Path within — you should get your attention focused within. You should get your aspirations focused on Naam and go within.'" (Baba Ram Singh)

Spiritual Consciousness -- An Explanation

Spiritual consciousness is to explore the knowledge of the spirit and its origin or reservoir through intuitive realization. The proper course of attaining higher levels of spiritual consciousness for a sincere lover of the Supreme Being, according to Huzur Maharaj -- the second Master of the Radhasoami Faith -- is "to acquire knowledge of the secrets and the order of creation and the means of traversing the distance between his dwelling in the body (the pupil of the eye [Third Eye Center accessed during meditation]) and the Abode of the Supreme Being, the prime source of everything; and to start on his journey with fervor and perseverance with the avowed object of reaching the presence of the Most High and Beloved Supreme Father." 

Love and devotion are the basic driving forces to attain success in life, whether temporal or spiritual. As a scientist, unless driven by a passionate zeal to find the truth, finds it difficult to surmount the hurdles in his path, so does a spiritual seeker, devoid of love and devotion, fail to attain any tangible results in his spiritual pursuit. Love and devotion are therefore the cardinal values in any endeavor to succeed. The medieval Bhakti traditions ushered by saints laid great emphasis on love and devotion for the master and Supreme Being. The Radhasoami Faith, which is the culmination of the saint traditions, lays great emphasis on love and devotion for the master and the Supreme Being. Hazur Maharaj says that "a heart devoid of love or affection is as hard as stone and does not form a suitable receptacle for the Light of Heavenly Grace and Compassion... The Supreme Being loves and takes special care of those who love Him with all their heart and soul and gradually draws them towards Himself -- the Center of Pure Light and Attraction."

Here comes the Suratia [the Soul] full of yearning and pining. 

Nowhere in the world, has she found peace. She 

remained roasted in the fire of pain, pleasure 

and doubts. 

Nowhere could she get the secrets and whereabouts 

of Sat Pad (the True Eternal Region) though she made 

a thorough search in all extant religions.

Seeking and searching, she fortunately came in 

contact with the Sat Guru. She adopted His Saran* 

on listening to His discourses.

Guru very mercifully explained to her the easy 

modes and methods of Surat Shabd Yoga. The 

dried up branches of her mind-tree now again 

became green.
