The Power of Satsang: Inner and Outer Association With Eternal Truth - Light and Sound on The Path (Sant Mat, Radhasoami, Inner Light and Sound, Bhakti)

The Power of Satsang: Inner and Outer Association With Eternal Truth - Light and Sound on The Path (Sant Mat, Radhasoami, Inner Light and Sound, Bhakti)

Hazur Baba Sawan Singh: "So far as circumstances allow, a devotee must give time to Satsang. Please devote some time daily without fail to Sound-practice and Repetition, as this is the only fruit of our life which we will take with us on leaving this world; whereas, even the kingships of this earth shall have to be abandoned when death overtakes us. Therefore, it is necessary that we should add to our spiritual wealth, which is the only thing to help us at the time of departing. And the only way to increase our spiritual power is by means of Sound-practice and Repetition. The greater our love for Holy Sound, the greater will be our peace of mind and spiritual progress. As far as possible, we should try to make the focus above the eyes, in the brain, our resting place. Just as a man, weary with the day's work, resorts to his home to take rest, so we habituate our soul, on being tired with worldly work, to take rest in the Holy Sound. The attention has to be brought inside, and when it likes to rest there, like the wanderer coming home, it will find peace within." (Spiritual Gems, from letter # 156)

Satsang: "Literally, 'In Association with Truth'; to be in the company of the Truth of a Living Master; typically, outwardly, through hearing the Master's discourses and receiving His Darshan; also, in the inner context, meaning to be absorbed in the inner Sound Current of Truth."

Satsangi: "One, who is attending Satsang, inner or outer; an initiate of Surat Shabd Yoga." (Glossary of Sant Mat Terms, 2023 edition)

Baba Ram Singh: "In Satsang only we come to know about the true purpose of this human life, of why we have been given this human body. And in Satsang only, we are able to increase our love and affection to God Almighty, to our Satguru.

"The words of the Master are pure and they are sublime. And when we listen to those words lovingly, that cuts a lot of our karmas also.

"Swami Ji Maharaj says, 'When you listen to the Satsangs, you get motivated to do your devotion.' And when you do your devotion, you do your Simran Bhajan, that also increases the love and affection that you have for the Master. And you develop those pangs of separation from the Satguru, from God Almighty, which help you go further within.

"Satsang is a great thing. And when we go to Satsangs, we come to know the true purpose of our life, the true purpose of this human body. We come to know about God Almighty and the Path to go towards God Almighty. And we come to know about the reality -- what is the reality, what is falsehood — when we come to Satsang.

"So, when we continue on this path of devotion in the Satsangs, the attachments that we have for all these worldly matters, those attachments gradually start melting away. And the pangs of separation with God Almighty start increasing and our love and devotion for God Almighty increases."  (Baba Ram Singh, satsang discourses, volume 15)

Sant Tulsi Sahib says: "O Aspirant! Perform satsang by subduing the mind and taking refuge in saints. Keep in your heart a ceaseless burning desire to be at the feet (tutelage) of saints."

Maharishi Mehi Paramahans Ji says: "Dear Aspirants! Each day strive to do both kinds of satsang: inner and outer. Outer satsang is listening to the teachings of great saints and studying the sacred texts. Inner satsang is the practice of one-pointed meditation."

Yogi Panchanan Bhattacharya Ji says: "By association with a pure soul the mind becomes pure and the darkness of attachment is dispelled."

In attending to these quotes from different saints it becomes clear that satsang is vital and very necessary for any serious spiritual seeker.

Receiving Inner Guidance in the Silence of Meditation -- Spiritual Awakening Radio Podcast

Receiving Inner Guidance in the Silence of Meditation -- Spiritual Awakening Radio Podcast

Today, wisdom from the Masters or Mystics of the East and West on the power of silence to guide our every step, so each step brings us closer to our most noble goals, leading us into a life of love, peacefulness, an enlightened existence. The art of listening in the silence of meditation provides us with countless opportunities to see clearly without the usual day-to-day distractions, perceiving the events of our life from a higher vantage point. Silence allows angels to whisper advice into our ears. It also makes it possible for the authentic self to rise to the surface, introducing a new divine power or grace into this dimension of reality. It imparts insight, and ultimately, wisdom borne out of the depths or womb of contemplative silence gives birth to the realization of the soul itself. Most of the time we human beings are distracted surface-dwellers. We live from the levels of conscious mind and ego, with our attention hopelessly held captive by the turbulence and agitation of our day-to-day circumstances. If we can develop a daily meditation practice, learn to take a break and detach ourselves, allowing some space for the silence to speak to us, we will gain access to a higher wisdom. If we can pause and listen, taking time each day to meditate, this will provide opportunities for angels, the Inner Master-Power or the Great Invisible Spirit to communicate, to whisper into our inner ear.

Light and Sound on the Path (Sant Mat, Radhasoami): Satlok Sachkhand is Our True Home, and, Go Within Or Go Without

Light and Sound on the Path (Sant Mat, Radhasoami): Satlok Sachkhand is Our True Home, and, Go Within Or Go Without: "Within This Body" -- Mystic-Poem of Sant Tulsi Sahib of Hathras

Satlok Sachkhand is Our True Home, Baba Ram Singh

Swamiji Maharaj tries to awaken souls like us who have lost and forgotten the devotion of God Almighty. Swamiji Maharaj in the first line of his bani tries to explain be very very cautious and thoughtful as this world is a LIE, unreal and illusion. But ordinary people and people like us think that we can see the whole world with our eyes. We see that all people are going to work, doing their jobs, business, etc... and many other things. But Master says it’s totally unreal, rather it's a complete LIE. To see reality/truth you must obey the command of your master and do your Simran and Bhajan for 2.5 to 3 hours daily. Leave all nine senses below and contemplate at the 10th Door. See with your knowledge, i.e. Wisdom Eye, so you can see the real truth. From these eyes we see an unreal world. The world which we are watching through these eyes is destructive and will get destroyed today or tomorrow, because this world is materialistic. Understand this very seriously, things which get destroyed are a LIE.

So what’s real? Soul is real, Master is real, God Almighty is real, Simran is real. Only these four things are real. Even in the community where we live it is not real. It is given to us only for four days to get our karma. So Saints say what are those four days? Childhood, adolescence, adulthood and old age.

With childhood and adolescence are growth, nourishment and studies. With adulthood, marriage, children, and business, etc. Old age is very miserable because in this age the efficiency of the body is almost zero. We cannot perform any work properly as all senses become so weak and poor. Also, at home nobody gives respect. That’s why the 4th stage of life is utterly painful and miserable.

You see the human life cycle of four days, which we assume is real. In the end time nothing goes with us, neither our family, money, health, possessions, not even our body. This is only meant for reaping our karma's as we have to take from someone and we have to give it to somebody. Once our account of karma is finished each and everybody starts leaving us. That’s why Saints have termed this world as birth and death, happiness and sorrow, as it belongs to Kaal and Maya. This world is not meant for you. Neither do you belong to this world. Your true world is Satlok Sachkhand. God Almighty's home is your true home. You are an integral part of God Almighty, and till the time our soul reaches the true home, we won't have any happiness or satisfaction in any of these worldly objects.

This world is not real. We have taken birth and death a million times. We don't even know where our last life was from, where we have come from, and which place we will be born again.

That’s why Saints and Mahatmas spread awareness of Naam and remind us all to be very thoughtful and cautious in a way that doesn't assume it for real why? Because this world belongs to Kaal and Maya.

You belong to that ecstatic world where there is no question of life and death, happiness and sorrow, thirst and hunger; it's only about peace and joy.

That’s why Saints and Mahatmas take a human life form to get us all back to Satlok Sachkhand where we have come from. They don’t come here to entangle us with this world nor worldly relations.

So Swamiji Maharaj explains to us what the reason is that makes our soul come back again to this world is our ego. 'Me', 'myself', these two have entangled us brutally. This egoism has taken all of us to all 8.4 million life forms and cycles of birth and death. That's why Swamiji Maharaj says sacrificing this ego has no side-effects. Rather, it has significant advantages, which will liberate your soul. You see Emperor Sikander wanted to conquer the whole world and wanted to steal all wealth and possessions from each kingdom but had died very young due to his ego and greed. At last, his repentance couldn't let him see his mother when he was about to die.

So Saints and Mahatmas don't belong to this world. When we have taken birth, we come empty handed, when we leave, we will go empty handed.

You are not body nor mind, you are an integral part of God Almighty. But living for so many ages we have mistakenly understood this world as our true home. (Satsang Discourse of Baba Ram Singh)

Go Within Or Go Without: "Within This Body" -- Mystic-Poem of Sant Tulsi Sahib of Hathras

Within this body breathes the secret essence. Within this body beats the heart of the Vedas.

Within this body shines the entire Universe, so the saints reveal.

Hermits, ascetics, celibates all are lost, seeking Him in endless guises.

Seers and sages perfectly parrot the scriptures and holy books, blinded by knowledge.

Their pilgrimage, and fasting, and striving but delude

Despite their perfect practice, they discover no destination.

Only the Saints who know the body's heart have attained the Ultimate, O Tulsi.

Realize this, and you've found your freedom (while teachers trapped in tradition know only the mirage in the mirror).

Podcast: An Introduction to the Gnostic Gospel of Mary Magdalene - Mary Understood the Teachings of Jesus Better Than Anyone Else

Podcast: An Introduction to the Gnostic Gospel of Mary Magdalene - Mary Understood the Teachings of Jesus Better Than Anyone Else

Mary Magdalene is the ultimate example of a female apostle (spiritual teacher and leader) in early Christianity. But Mary as well as her Gospel have long-since been neglected and forgotten. As it says in the Gospel of Mary: "You did not see me nor did you know me. You mistook the garment I wore for my true self. And you did not recognize me." Today, we commemorate the return of the Gospel According to Mary Magdalene, and her visions of the Resurrected Christ.

In Gnostic scriptures such as the Gospel of Mary, unenlightened human existence is portrayed as a kind of night of the living dead, souls living in a world of sleep caught up in dreams of illusion, trapped in spiritual ignorance somewhere in time, limited to only a couple of dimensions, tethered to material existence seemingly unable to become aware of anything more. One of my favorite passages from Mary is when a liberated soul exclaims: "I was set loose from a world and from the chain of forgetfulness that exists in time!"

For the mystic-soul there is no need to construct outward temples made of wood and stone, as the human body itself is already the ideal temple of the Spirit. I’m sure this "Kingdom of God is within you" message of the Gnostic or mystical gospels is one of the reasons why they were not politically useful to some spiritual bureaucrats in antiquity and were banned. Mary's contemplative view of the teachings of Christ is in harmony with the wisdom of countless saints, mystics and masters, that the focus is "within", not elsewhere in the outer world of the five senses, the kingdoms of this world. Thus, contemplative meditation for mystics serves as a kind of heavenly "portal" or "doorway" to the Divine:

"I left the world with the aid of another world; a design was erased, by virtue of a higher design. Henceforth I travel toward Repose, where time rests in the Eternity of Time; I go now into Silence.’ Having said all this, Mary became silent, for it was in silence that the Teacher spoke to her.'"  (The Gospel of Mary Magdalene)

Below Are NOTES About Today's PODCAST (12-17-18):

"Know what is before your face, and what is hidden from you will be revealed to you. For there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed, nor anything buried which will not be raised up!" (A saying of Jesus from the Greek Oxyrhynchus Gospel of Thomas, Saying 5 that had been buried/lost in Egypt but was raised and published in 1897 in book called, The Sayings of Our Lord)

There has been a kind of second coming of Christ, not in a physical sense, but rather... what I mean is...  there has been a return of the teachings of Jesus in the form of a collection of sayings of Christ, some of which were first rediscovered in Oxyrhynchus, Egypt during the 19th Century, and published way back in the year 1897 in a book called, The Sayings of Our Lord. Today I will share with you some of these sayings. And you may find, as I do, that as you discover this sayings format, that this gives birth to a new overall appreciation for the sayings of Jesus embedded in the more well-known gospels as well. You'll see the sayings of Jesus in an entirely new way when you encounter the Gospel of Thomas. As I wrote in my article titled, Summarizing the Spiritual Message of the Gospel of Thomas, 'Have always been a fan of this contemplative “wisdom gospel,” with its format of proverbs and parables. It contains absolutely no narrative whatsoever. It’s comprised solely of ... unvarnished sayings of Jesus, one after the other, and that’s it. There is no commentary, no spin, and no story. No more Roman centurions, scribes, Pharisees, and locusts to block our view. Rather than being presented through the “lens” of others, the reader encounters a more direct, unfiltered historic Jesus.'

Saint Augustine quoted the Gospel of Thomas:

"But when the apostles asked
what should be thought about the
prophets of the Jews,
who were thought to have sung
something in the past about his coming,
he was disturbed that they should still
think such things, and replied:
‘You have abandoned the Living One who
is before you,
and are talking about the dead.’"

Gospel of Thomas, saying of Jesus # 52:
"His disciples said to him,
‘Twenty-four prophets spoke in Israel
and did all of them speak about you?’
He said to them,
‘You have neglected the Living One
in front of you,
and spoken of the dead.’"

Saint ‘Macarius’ of Syria quoted a saying Jesus not found in the New Testament Gospels:
"As the Lord has said,
'The Kingdom of God is
spread out on the earth,
and people do not see it.'"

Gospel of Thomas, saying of Jesus # 113):
"The kingdom of the father is
spread out upon the earth,
and people do not see it."

PODCAST: The Spirituality and Wisdom of the Lost Books of the Bible (Gnostic Gospels)

PODCAST: The Spirituality and Wisdom of the Lost Books of the Bible (Gnostic Gospels)

IAO

PODCAST: The Spirituality and Wisdom of the Lost Books of the Bible (Gnostic Gospels) -- Listen @ Youtube:

Today: Background on the Origins and Discovery of the Nag Hammadi Library and Other Gnostic Gospels of Egypt; Wisdom from Wisdom Gospels; also, the Seven Ingredients of a Living Spiritual Path;

The Destruction of Wisdom

Muhammad ‘Ali al-Samman’s mother would often grab a few pages of Coptic texts to use them for kindling in the morning to light the family woodstove and make tea, perhaps do some cooking also. No doubt it was very nice tea, brewed thanks to the sacrifice of a few pages of unknown and lost Nag Hammadi pages, perhaps from the Gospel of Mary or lost book of Third Allogenes! The misplacing, forgetting, and random destruction of wisdom is all very much part of the story of Gnosticism on planet earth. But perhaps we can remain hopeful like the author of the Gospel of Thomas: “Know what is before your face, and what is hidden from you will be revealed to you. For there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed, nor anything buried which will not be raised.” (Saying Five of Greek Thomas)

Meditation

This passage from the Acts of Peter provides a great description of meditation practice: “Give ear; withdraw your souls from all that appears but is not truly real; close these eyes if yours, close your ears, withdraw from actions that are outwardly seen; and you shall know the reality of Christ and the whole secret of your salvation.”

“Look at God within yourself, how ‘God is Light.’ For his Nature is a glorious, many-splendored Light. He manifests the Light of his Nature to those who love Him in all the worlds…” (John of Dalyatha, Syriac Mystic)

God is the Ocean of Love.

In Divine Light and Sound, Peace Be to You,
James

The Most Important Task In Life

The Most Important Task In Life

Sant Mat Quote of the Day:
{"The affairs of the world will go on forever.
Do not delay the practice of meditation." -- Milarepa}

Truthful Living is Higher Still: From, The Treasure of Spiritual Peace: "Generally, devotees applaud the teachings imparted by a Satguru and become ecstatic over these but do not adopt them in practical life. Hence they meet failure everywhere.... Meditation upon the Lord's Divine Name is the most important task in life. All other tasks done amount to nothing."

Sectarianism is not Spirituality: From, The Treasure of Spiritual Peace: "One who has fought and conquered his own mind is the greatest warrior. Even the name of those is hardly remembered at whose threshold many used to bow low. Do not be deluded by momentary honour or position. Yesterday this prestige, prowess and position belonged to someone: today another claims it, and tomorrow it shall belong to someone else. But, be sure, the claim of each is untrue and unstable. They have been deluded the false attainment. One's own eternal possession is only the Lord's Pure Love.... Meditation upon the Lord's Divine Name is the most important task in life. All other tasks done amount to nothing."

A True Teacher and Guide: From, The Treasure of Spiritual Peace: "The false guru gives sweet words seeking popularity, but the Satguru bestows Wisdom, seeking disciples, devotees of the Lord. If you love someone dearly, guide him again and again, to tread the path of Truth..... Meditation upon the Lord's Divine Name is the most important task in life. All other tasks amount to nothing."

Meditate: Swami Santsevi Ji Maharaj: "We sit in meditation, fail to concentrate, and get upset or fed up. A pessimistic thinking sets in as to whether or not 'I would be able to do it.' No, we should not get nervous, or anxious, nor should we nurture any doubts in our minds. We must go on trying, with persistence and perseverance."

Meditate: Swami Santsevi Ji Maharaj: "Whatever amount is possible, do meditation everyday. Never ever give up or discontinue meditation. You will definitely meet with success......All of you please keep on practicing meditation regularly, everyday. Gurudev will bestow you with success."

Giving Life Meaning: "Ponds, rains, trees, and Saints -- all these four give meaning to their existence by helping others. A pond is meant to quench the thirst of living beings. The rains cause crops to grow and fills the world with greeneries. A tree gives cool shade, fruit, and wood. A Saint gives meaning to the lives of others by imparting True Knowledge to them." (The Saakhi Granth of Guru Kabir)

Love Wisdom: "Through Association with Saints, the hearing of spiritual talks and study, Wisdom can be acquired. Wisdom is essential in determining what is the right way to live your life." -- Maharshi Mehi Paramahansa Ji Maharaj
