Honor Your Present Lifetime: Do the Meditation and Do It Regularly - Spiritual Awakening Radio - Sant Mat Satsang Podcast

Honor Your Present Lifetime: Do the Meditation and Do It Regularly - Spiritual Awakening Radio - Sant Mat Satsang Podcast

When we close our physical eyes we see darkness inside but as we cross this void of darkness following the meditation practice of the Saints, there is Light. Beyond the silence there is Sound. Indeed, there are many Heavenly Lights, Visions within Visions, Sounds (Music of the Spheres), Mansion after Mansion, Level upon Level in this Inner Space or Kingdom of the Heavens. With the proper guidance of those competent qualified teachers (Sant Satgurus) who have explored Inner Space for themselves, we too can be mentored into cultivating our own successful spiritual practice and communion with the Beloved Lord of Love. Today, a Sant Mat Satsang Podcast featuring readings from the mystic poetry of Sant Namdev, Guru Kabir, Sant Tulsi Sahib of Hathras, the Ginza Rabba and Canonical Prayer Book of the Mandaean Gnostics, and a bhajan of Baba Somanath. There are satsang discourses from Hazur Baba Sawan Singh, Sant Kirpal Singh on living in the present moment, and spiritual satsang discourses of Baba Ram Singh Ji.

"So, therefore, we should listen to Satsang every day. And we should do our Bhajan Simran [meditation] every day. And this is what we have been given this precious life for." Nullifying Karma and Lower Influences Through the Positive Power -- Saints Show Us the Way Out, By Sawan Singh

Nullifying Karma and Lower Influences Through the Positive Power -- Saints Show Us the Way Out

The escape from karma lies in the protection afforded by Saints. They are themselves karmaless. Their actions are not binding on them, for their spirits work from Daswandwar, a center above the three spheres of mind and forms, as stated above. The Saints show us the way out.

They say, let new actions be performed in the Name of the Master, the individual working in the capacity of an agent only. The new actions, done in this spirit, will not be binding. The fate actions will have been undergone by the time the life comes to an end; the reserve actions Saints partly take upon themselves and partly are undergone by the devotee, as the Saints think proper.

Saints put the individual spirit in touch with the Sound Current, and as the spirit catches It and rises up, it throws off the influences of mind and matter, and gets stronger and stronger. The more the individual works on these lines, the easier the Path for him. Otherwise the course becomes lengthy; but the Saints are pledged to see him through, after they have initiated a soul. The practice of Sound Current cuts the rest of karma.

The Current acts like a magnet on the spirit. It attracts the spirit to Itself, and if the spirit were not covered by the rust of mind and matter, it would go up like a shot. The rust of attachments and impressions is removed by Repetition (Simran). The repetition of thoughts of the journey within replaces our everyday thoughts. Then the mind, instead of wandering outside, begins to take rest and peace within; and when it goes in, the spirit also goes with it; and when the spirit is in, the Current in its turn pulls it up. Once Trikuti has been crossed (this will only be when all karmic accounts are settled), the soul never goes back into transmigration. It will go up to merge in its origin. (from letter 20, Spiritual Gems, Sawan Singh)

Simran! Excerpted from a Satsang Discourse Titled, "You Should Have One Wish — One Aspiration — And That Aspiration Should Be To Pursue Naam", by Baba Ram Singh

Simran! Excerpted from a Satsang Discourse Titled, "You Should Have One Wish — One Aspiration — And That Aspiration Should Be To Pursue Naam", by Baba Ram Singh

Kabir Sahib says, "In that happiness, or in that contentment, if we are forgetting Simran and we are forgetting God Almighty, then let stones and boulders fall on such happiness and such contentment."

That poverty is much better where, in that poverty, we are able to remember God Almighty and we are able to do Simran of God Almighty.

Kabir satguru naam se,

Koti bigan tar jaay,

Kabir satguru naam se,

Koti bigan tar jaay,

Raayi samaan basandara,

Ketha kaat jaraay.

Kabir Sahib says, "The Naam that has been given to us is of very high value. And if we do that Simran for one hour every day and we are connected with Naam, then a lot of impediments, a lot of difficult, that we are likely to face because of our karmas are automatically absorbed by the Grace of the Master — and that helps us."

By doing Simran, we are able to reduce the burden of karmas and, as a result, at the time of our death, when we are leaving this body, we do not have to suffer so much.

If we are not doing our Simran and we're not redeeming those deeds, then those deeds collect and, as a result, ultimately, we have to redeem those deeds by means of a sickness or an ailment, or by means of some sadness or some loss. So, such things, such events, then happen as a result of the build up of such karmas.

The Simran that has been given to us is of a very high order. And where we do Simran, even the place gets purified. At that place, there are no bad influences. No mystical powers also work on you. Neither do the angels of death come and disturb you. Neither does Kal come. And neither does Maha Kal come. Only the Master comes at the time of death of that satsangi.

So, even if we are connected a little with Naam — with Simran — then the Masters shower Their Grace. They are Dayal and They are very gracious and They come at the time of death to take us.

Therefore, we should try to do Simran regularly. And, by that, we are able to gradually reduce the burden of karmas and, at the time of death also, it becomes easier for the Master to take us.

Lene ko satnaam hai,

Dene ko an daan,

Lene ko satnaam hai,

Dene ko an daan,

Tharane ko adheenatha,

Bhudan ko abhimaan.

Kabir Sahib says, "If you have to take something, then take Sat Naam. And, if you have to give something, then you can donate food to someone. Because, by doing so, you will be able to help yourself and you will get the satisfaction of that selfless donation that you are doing."

Kabir Sahib says, “The Naam helps you steer through this ocean of life and death. It helps you steer through this life and takes you back to God Almighty. And if you want to stay afloat here, you have to be generous and you have to be selfless. So, that will keep you afloat. And if you want to drown in this ocean of life and death, then it will be because of your ego."

So, if you have ego, that will be the cause of your drowning. And if you are selfless and you are generous, that will be the cause for you to stay afloat.

Podcast: The Gnostic Gospels of Nag Hammadi, An Inclusive Rather Than Exclusive Spirituality -- Spiritual Awakening Radio

Podcast: The Gnostic Gospels of Nag Hammadi, An Inclusive Rather Than Exclusive Spirituality

In December 1945 a collection of ancient scriptures -- fifty-two books -- was unearthed near the village of Nag Hammadi in Egypt. These texts had been placed in a clay storage jar, sealed, and buried sometime during the Fourth Century AD. Monks who lived at a nearby monastery founded by Saint Pachomius most likely hid them there at the time. They would have been sacred texts once part of the library of this monastic community, one of several Pachomian monasteries operating in Egypt during those days.

Rather than confining themselves to only reading the Old and New Testaments or teachings exclusively from Orthodox Christian sources, these monks had a surprisingly diverse collection of writings that can only be characterized as inter-faith and multi-traditional. In other words, they were also studying the scriptures of other teachers, sages, religions and “cousin” esoteric mystical movements of their day.

“And there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed. There is nothing buried that will not be raised!” (Saying of Jesus, Greek Gospel of Thomas)

Everywhere I Look You Are -- Sant Namdev

Everywhere I Look You Are -- Sant Namdev

The One manifests in the many, pervading everywhere --

wherever I look, there is he.

Maya's diverse forms have so bewitched the world

that few know it is he.

All is God, all is God, there is nothing but God!

One string holds hundreds and thousands of beads,

God is the thread which runs through them all.

Waves, foam and bubbles cannot be separated from water.

This illusion is the play of the supreme Lord --

On reflection you will not find it different from him.

You have taken fleeting phantoms and ephemeral desires as true.

My Master has awakened right thoughts in me,

Thus purifying the mind and subduing it.

Reflect on God's creation, says Namdev, and realize --

Pervading everyone and everything is the Lord alone!

Spiritual Awakening Radio Podcast: Mandaean Nasoraean Gnostic Spirituality -- The Mandaean Scriptures Are Out Of This World!

Spiritual Awakening Radio Podcast: Mandaean Nasoraean Gnostic Spirituality -- The Mandaean Scriptures Are Out Of This World!

A rare glimpse into the origins of Christianity and Gnosticism. Today we explore the history, the scriptures, the mystic teachings and poetry of the root group, the common ancestor, the earlier original spiritual movement in antiquity out of which emerged the Jesus Movement (Ebionites), the Elkasites, and the Mandaean Gnostics. I speak of the Nasoraeans, the followers of John the Baptist. The Nag Hammadi texts may represent the prose of the Gnostics, but it is the Nasoraean Mandaean scriptures that give us the poetry!

The role of the Heavenly Messenger is to give the mystic experience of light to souls and eventually guide them back up to the Place of Light, the Mandaean term for the highest heaven where the Great Life (God) resides. Here are some passages of mystic poetry from Mandaean holy books on Manda-d-Hiya -- the great heavenly redeemer and the spirituality of the Mandaean Gnostics:

The Illuminator of the Worlds of Light

In The Name Of The Great Life,

Sublime Light Be Praised.

From the Place of Light I came forth,

from you, Bright Habitation.

I come to touch hearts,

to measure and try all minds,

to see in whose heart I dwell.

Whoever thinks of me, of him I think;

whoever calls my Name, his name I will call.

Whosoever prays my prayer from the earth,

his prayer I will offer from the Place of Light.

I came and found the truthful

and believing hearts.

When I was not dwelling among them,

yet my Name was on their lips.

I took them and guided them up

to the World of Light.

I became the Illuminator

of the Worlds of Light.

I became a king to the Nazoreans,

who receive praise and stability

through my Name.

And by my Name they ascend

to the Place of the Light.

As for the elect righteous

who put me on as a garment,

their eyes were filled with Light,

and Manda-d-Hiya [Knowledge of Life]

was established in their hearts.

The worlds know not Thy name, nor recognize Thy light.

O fie on those who sit and eat and drink.

On those who quarrel and persecute!

Day by day they sit on thrones of insolence

And persecute the name of the Life;

{Yet) they knew not the name of the Life,

Nor did the idea of the Life enter their minds.

{But) we have testified to Life and put our trust in Life;

And Manda-d-Hiia [Knowledge of the Life, Gnosis of the Life] stood by us,

was of our company

And was our Helper.

Go to the house of him who knows Me,

Those who know me, for I dwell amongst them

In the hearts of my friends

And the thoughts of my disciples.

And Life is victorious.

I wait upon the Life and mine eyes upon Manda-d-Hiia; for

they will be my support, my deliverer and saviour

from the Place of Darkness

to the Place of Light.

In the name of the Life!

Blessed and praised be the Life!

Blessed and praised be the name of Life in the Place of Light!

Blessed and praised are you, my lord, Manda-d-Hiia;

You and your strength, your radiance, your height, your glory and your

help.

My chosen! Do not put your trust

in the kings, rulers, and rebels of this world,

nor in military forces, arms, conflict,

and the hosts which they assemble,

nor in silver and gold…

their gold and their silver

will not save them.

Their authority passes away

and comes to an end.

Thou hast showed us that which the eye has not seen,

and caused us to hear that which the human ear has not heard.

Thou has freed us from death and united us with Life,

released us from darkness,

and united us with Light...

Thou hast shown us that which the eye has not seen,

and caused us to hear that which the human ear has not heard.

(Canonical Prayer Book of the Mandaeans)

Honor Your Present Lifetime -- Light and Sound on the Path -- Sant Mat Spiritual Discourse

Honor Your Present Lifetime

Honor Your Present Lifetime, by Hazur Baba Sawan Singh

"My dear daughter, I will repeatedly ask you to honor your present lifetime and try your best to raise yourself toward your own home. As soon as you reach the first stage of your journey, you will notice the wonderful spiritual scenes there, which will fill your heart with happiness and gratefulness to the Holy Father... Those who accept His teachings, and act upon them with love, gradually return to the purely spiritual Region under His guidance. Therefore, you need not be anxious, and you should continually perform the spiritual practices with firm faith and trust in the mercy of the Holy Father, Who has kindly disclosed to you the secrets of the True Holy Name; and you will certainly reach the goal one day." (Hazur Baba Sawan Singh)

Now is the Time to Live in the Present Moment, by Sant Kirpal Singh

“Always live in the living present-in the living moment. Did you read my circular on that point? If you care for the living moment, you can care for eternity. Read the circulars and go into them deeply. If you care for the pennies, pounds will be saved, is it not so? If you keep your mind occupied every moment, then nothing can go wrong. It is given very briefly in the circulars. Brevity is the soul of all creation. The Master’s sayings are very brief, but to the point.

“If you watch your present moment, then everything is all right. If you don’t care, sometimes for hours you’re oblivious and in those vacant hours there’s so much trouble that comes up which affects your meditations. So when you sit for meditation, forget the past, forget the future; live in the living present. This is the one thing that will give you success in your meditations. But the vacant hours in which you’ve not kept the mind occupied with some constructive thought affect your meditation.

“So that is the remedy that accounts for all these things: If you would pass your every hour in peace, with no ill will against anybody and no attachment to anybody, if you can pass each hour like that for one day, then continuously for some days, no such ramifications of mind will come up to affect your meditations. We are frittering away our moments of life in suchlike pursuits. Kabir says, ‘Make each breath you take the offering to your Master.’ Do you follow what I have said? Every breath you take, make it an offering to your Master. This is very valuable, Kabir says, and we fritter away a fortune. If a dying man wishes to stay for a few minutes longer, he cannot.

“How frivolously we kill our time. Every moment of life is very valuable. Make the best use of it. When death overtakes us, that is the time you say, ‘Oh, had some time been given to me, I would have done this and that thing.’ Is it not so? But you cannot get time then which you have frittered away so ruthlessly, so cruelly. Kabir says, ‘In one breath he crossed three planes: physical, astral, causal.’ One breath is very valuable.” (Kirpal Singh, The Light of Kirpal, Ruhani Satsang Books)

Bhajan (Hymn) of Baba Somanath: Santa Sataguru Satya Svarupaa

"O Sant Satguru, Form of Truth,

You are ever pure and undefiled.

"You are the victor over death who ferries the jivas [souls] across the impassable realm of matter,

Omniscient Consciousness, Quintessence of Light,

Ineffable and beyond reckoning is Your state.

The mind cannot conceive of You; You are without beginning and without end.

"Through contemplation upon You, the yogis have abandoned worldly desires and have achieved union with the Beloved.

The Vedas and all the scriptures extol Your Greatness.

Shiva, Vishnu, Brahma, and the serpent Shesh proclaim Your glory.

O Kindler of Light, in Your form resides all power and splendor.

You dwell beyond the physical, astral, and causal realms.

"Surpassing the Vedas, You are the Embodiment of Wisdom,

Yet within the hearts of the Sadhus, You make Your abode.

Lord of the Inner Sound, the mystery never ending,

Vanquishing all obstructions in this earthly existence,

Free us from attachment to the six-directional Maya,

And bestow on us the Transcendental Reality that is beyond price.

"Peerless Radiance, Supreme Effulgence,

Cupped in Your hands is the Nectar of Immortality, which you graciously distribute.

Fearless Lord, unfettered by this world,

Even the Shastras and Puranas recount Your matchless glory.

"O Protector of the lowly ones, most merciful Lord,

Self-Existent, Bestower of Light

Somanath has contemplated upon Your lotus feet.

Unceasingly, He will sing Your praises.

You free all the jivas from the desires and afflictions of this world.

Do the Meditation and Do It Regularly — Baba Ram Singh

“All the souls have come from Anaami [The Nameless One Given Many Names, God]. They have not come from Brahm or Par Brahm. As long as they don’t meditate and go within, they will not understand this truth.

“How ever many scriptures or other holy books we read, till we go in, until we open our Third Eye, we will not be able to satisfy all the doubts and queries that we have.

“So, what the Masters have given us, we should practice that. We should follow Their Teaching and do our Bhajan Simran [Surat Shabd Yoga Meditation] every day. Make that a schedule and do it on a daily basis. When we do it on a daily basis, we purify our mind and then we redeem our deeds and we go within. Once we go within, we realize the truth — that we are the soul, we are not this body, and we are not this mind.

“So, it is incumbent for us to do that meditation and do it regularly. That is our true work. Every other thing that we are doing is all work relating to others.”

— Baba Ram Singh, from, Satsang Discourses, Volume 11

"The individual soul has descended from the higher worlds [the Realm of the Divine] to this city of illusion, bodily existence. It has descended from the Soundless State to the essence of Sound, from that Sound to Light, and finally from the realm of Light to the realm of Darkness. The qualities (dharmas, natural tendencies) of the sense organs draw us downward and away from our true nature.

"The nature of the soul (atman) draws us upwards and inwards and establishes us in our own true nature. Returning to our origins involves turning inward: withdrawal of consciousness from the senses and the sense objects in order to go upward from the darkness to the realms of Light and Sound. [We experience this phenomenon of withdrawal as we pass from waking consciousness to deep sleep.] Another way to express this is to go inward from the external sense organs to the depth of the inner self. (Both of these expressions are the metaphors that signify the same movement). The natural tendencies of the soul (atman) are to move from outward to inward. The current of consciousness which is dispersed in the nine gates of the body and the senses, must be collected at the tenth gate.

"The tenth gate is the gathering point of consciousness. Therein lies the path for our return. The tenth gate is also known as the sixth chakra, the third eye, bindu, the center located between the two eyebrows. This is the gateway through which we leave the gates of the sense organs and enter in the divine realms and finally become established in the soul.

"We travel back from the Realm of Darkness to the Realm of Light, from the Light to the Divine Sound, and from the Realm of Sound to the Soundless State. This is called turning back to the Source." (Swami Sant Sevi Ji Maharaj, The Harmony Of All Religions)
